Everyone is now interested in taking offense at something somebody else said and publicizing that fact to the world. And the Left is, frankly, far worse on this score than the Right.

I'm so sick of these hothouse flowers with their hurt feelings and fainting spells insisting that the rest of us have to conform to their precious sensibilities. But I've written about this so much and am so tired of it, and none of it makes a dent, anyway. The professional offendees will keep on keeping on, because their petty little p.c. concerns make them feel so virtuous. In their determination to one-up each other in the "tolerance" and "sensitivity" departments, they lose sight of real issues with real consequences and instead settle for imitations thereof. Thus we have the Jackson kerfuffle, the Bernie Mac brouhaha, and, soon to come, the tizzy over the latest New Yorker cover. Not surprisingly, such people also lack a sense of humor, and don't know parody or satire when it smacks them in the face. Which is, uh, the whole point of parody and satire. But again, no matter. They'll never change their ways.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
