The questionnaire, part 9

This is the ninth question in the questionnaire:
 

What profession other than yours would you not like to try?

I'm sorry, but this answer isn't pretty. That's why I'm sticking it in the middle of the explanation, rather than at the front: maybe it won't seem so bad when it's in the middle of a paragraph, rather than out there on its own.

I saw a truck, one day, that was driving into an event — a folk festival, or maybe it was a craft fair — so that its driver might do his job. He was the guy who pumped out the portable toilets. I decided, at that moment, long before knowing anything about this questionnaire, that that was the job that, above all others, I would never want to have.

My father always used "ditch digger" as the trade one was doomed to ply if one didn't study, did poorly in school, and didn't learn something better. I think pumping out portable toilets has it all over digging ditches. No disrespect to Dad, but there it is.

Ugh. That might be even worse than the job of the person who inspects urine submissions for drug tests!
