One year ago today...

...I made the first post in this blog, “Outrage, and doing something about it”. Actually, the very first post was a brief one that explains the “Staring At Empty Pages” name, but “Outrage...” was the first real post.

A lot of time has passed since then. Well, a year, to be precise, a year has passed. Is that a lot of time? What's changed? We've had an election, and that changed the balance of power in Congress. On the other hand, King George is still ruling. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose. No, it's not a lot of time.

When I started this, I had something specific to say. I thought it was something important, and I posted that particular thing on the first day. And then I thought I'd like to keep writing — I wanted to, because, important or not, I had more things to say. I set a goal of posting something every day, knowing that once in a while I'd miss that, but if I made the goal “every day”, then even with a miss here and there I'd have something out there most of the time. It's worked: I have, indeed, missed a few, but only a few. So out of the last 365 days, I've posted something on 346 of them (and one of the missed days was skipped purposefully: 11 Sept).

And I still have something to say. Sometimes it's more interesting than others. Some of it's more or less interesting to this reader or that. But I hope those of you who read regularly find enough that you like — I know some do, because you've commented. Thanks for the comments, and thanks for wanting to read what I write.

And here starts another year.
