Yet more on shaking hands...

...but with a different world leader. Amusingly, just after our extended discussion here about whether or not we’d shake hands with King George, the very situation comes up on the news with France’s Président de la République, Nicolas Sarkozy (I saw it on tonight's France 2 news, and lots of people have put it up on YouTube).

About 30 seconds into the video, we see this exchange between Mr Sarkozy and a citizen in the crowd:

Citizen: No, don’t touch me.
Sarkozy: Get lost, then.
Citizen: You’ve soiled me.
Sarkozy: Get lost, then, poor jerk.

So there you have one French citizen’s answer to the question... and his president’s response.

A very different situation.

Very different to Mr Fleisher's situation, yes. But it's exactly the sort of situation I was saying I'd refuse to shake GWB's hand in. (And, actually, I'd be perfectly happy if I did that and GWB called me a jerk for it.)
