.

Would you sell ANWR for $100?

OK, this is even dumber (and more insidious) than the $300 tax rebate that preceded our record deficit. The Republican rocket scientists in the US Senate have proposed a $100 tax rebate to make us feel better about paying so much for gasoline. Good, well, at the current rates, that gives me two free fill-ups. And what would they get in return? They'd get their long-sought approval to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Kill this. Squash this. Stop it now. Write your senators and tell them that you aren't selling out the wildlife refuge for 100 silver pieces. Sending us a pittance as a "tax rebate" is useless, and drilling in a wildlife refuge won't solve the problem of excessive gas prices and excessive oil-company profits.

And, of course, there seem to be no indication how they would pay for the $100 each. How about this: we sell ANWR for $100 and we charge it to our children? There's a deal you can't refuse.
