Five Years

The World Trade Center in 2000This blog will be observing a day of silence tomorrow, 11 September.

Pushing through the market square
So many mothers sighing
News had just come over
We had five years left to cry in
News guy wept and told us
Earth was really dying
Cried so much his face was wet
Then I knew he was not lying

[The lyrics are from David Bowie's song "Five Years", the first song from his 1972 album "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars". It's interesting that the song was written 35 years ago, but those opening lines seem so apt today.]
