Hm, so, The Ridger has “tagged me” with one of those infernal“meme” things. She says she won't be offended if her taggees don't play along, and, well, you can look here to see what I think of these. Euuw. I certainly would not want to set a precedent here, and make people think they can just say, “Jump!” to me, and I'll ask how high. I do not want to get caught in some meme loop meme loop meme loop meme....
On the other hand, I have been known to do the odd one of my own volition, and The Ridger is my blog buddy and all. I can't help but think that she'd be just a leeeeeeettle miffed if I just ignored the “tag”.
So I'm going to go partway. First, I'll tell you to go to the link above at The Greenbelt in order to see the “rules”; I'm not posting them here. Third, I'm not “tagging” anyone. Second (proper numeric sequence is overrated), rather than pointlessly listing “eight facts” about myself, I'm going to use this as an opportunity to be pointful, and point y'all back to some select older posts that have a personal focus; vintage “Empty Pages”, as it were, to the extent that “vintage” can be applied to something that's only about a year and a half old. Note that some of the adjacent words below have separate links, so look closely.
- I really just love to go hiking.
- I also love dancing.
- I'm an optimist, though I'm not always sure why.
- I turned 50 this year.
- Cultural diversity is an issue of major importance to me, and you'll find lots of diversity-related posts throughout.
- Environmental issues are very important to me too.
- I've participated in anti-war marches.
- I'm a regular blood donor.
For more random stuff about me, go see this series, in which I answer James Lipton's questionnaire, as seen regularly on Inside the Actors Studio.
There, that's done. Now, isn't it more fun when I rant about some socio-political stuff or babble about computers?

Thanks! But I truly wouldn't have minded ... every blogger I know who LIKES to do this sort of thing has already done this one! But your links are great.
Ha! I ranted to James about internet "memes" yesterday when I saw you'd been tagged. Nobody can provide a "random" list of facts about themselves. That would look something like, "drank milk on April 27, 1972," "tripped on my way to the car six years ago at 7:30 am," "shouted 'hey' when somebody cut me off at the intersection of..." Anyway. I think "internet memes" arose because people like to talk about themselves. Does anybody enjoy reading them? Yes, your political rants are much more interesting. :-)
(I just coincidentally read Dawkins' chapter on memes in The Selfish Gene yesterday. It's really very interesting, much more interesting than a marginally glorified internet chain letter. (An internet meme is not a meme. That annoys me.))
